Destination SPAIN

Our destination is 40 minutes north of Malaga in the beautiful mountain villages of Axarquía in Andalucía. The scenery and climate make this a perfect location for painting, sketching and becoming inspired to paint more.

An ideal trip for those wanting a no stress, all-inclusive, relaxing and creative experience, it is suitable for absolute beginners or for those wanting to re-establish or improve their skills.

Our accommodation is a luxurious modern and well equipped villa with a pool, spacious and scenic terraces and plenty of shared and private space for everyone. There are many interesting and inclusive excursions included in the itinerary so we will not be short of ideas and inspiration.

Places are limited to six students to maintain a quality, enjoyable and fully focused experience.

The Villa

Itinerary

Day 1 Monday pm

Arrive Malaga airport.

Between 12 and 3pm (depending on flight arrival times) private transfer to villa, you can then relax, unpack and wonder around the lovely gardens picking a sketching or painting spot for later in the week.

We will have welcome drinks on the terrace at 6.30pm with a review of what we will be doing during the week.

Dinner at 7.30pm, either on the terrace if it’s warm enough or in the villa where there is a cosy wood burner if the evening is a bit chilly.

Day 2 Tuesday

Breakfast in the villa at 8.30am. Tea/coffee/fresh orange juice, continental breakfast of warmed croissants, toast and spreads. Muesli and fresh fruit.

Short drive to the charming and award winning local mountain town of Comares. Coffee in a courtyard café where we spend time sketching and painting the scenery. I will be on hand at all times to guide and assist you.

Lunchtime we have a Tapas Lunch in the local restaurant.

We continue to paint after lunch and then in the afternoon return to the villa.

Time at the villa to relax in the sunshine.

Aperitifs on the terrace at 6.30pm.

Dinner at the villa at 7.30pm.

Day 3 Wednesday

Breakfast in the villa at 8.30am. Tea/coffee/fresh orange juice, continental breakfast of warmed croissants, toast and spreads. Muesli and fresh fruit.

In the morning we will work on our paintings or sketch some scenes to paint later in the day.

OR

Optional day of wax ring carving. If you want a break from painting today we will create a ring in jewellers wax that will then be cast in sterling silver on our return to the UK. I will then finish the ring in the finish of your choice and post it to you. An excellent chance to create your own unique silver ring. All tools, materials and tuition included.

Lunch on the terrace at around 1pm of mezze plate, fresh bread and soft drinks.

Time at the villa to relax in the sunshine.

Aperitifs on the terrace at 6.30pm.

Dinner at the villa at 7.30pm.

Day 4 Thursday

Breakfast in the villa at 8.30am. Tea/coffee/fresh orange juice, continental breakfast of warmed croissants, toast and spreads. Muesli and fresh fruit.

A relaxing day spent painting and sketching around the villa.

Refreshments brought to you wherever you are painting, whether that is the organge and lemon grove, the olive grove or one of the terraces.

Lunch on the terrace at around 1pm of mezze plate, fresh bread and soft drinks.

Afternoon Continuing our mornings work back at the villa.

Evening Tonight we eat at the lovely El Molino Los Abuelos in Comares for a celebratory dinner and recap of our inspiring and productive week.

Day 5 Friday

Morning Breakfast in the villa at 8.30am. Tea/coffee/fresh orange juice, continental breakfast of warmed croissants, toast and spreads. Muesli and fresh fruit.

This morning we will work on sketches to take home to paint.

Between 12 and 6pm (depending on flight departure times) private transfer to Malaga airport for your return journey home.

Pricing

£700 per person with 4 nights accommodation based on 1 or 2 people sharing a double or twin room (no supplement for single occupancy)

  • All breakfasts, dinners and lunches are included, along with drinks, including local wine and beer and your favourite tipple.
  • Morning and/or afternoon painting and sketching sessions.
  • Optional ring carving session.
  • Private transfer from and to Malaga airport.
  • All transport to the local towns/villages for painting.
  • Most painting and sketching materials, please let us know if you intend to bring all your own materials.
  • Travel easels.
  • Full use of all the facilities at the villa including access to tea and coffee making facilities.

Rooms will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

A minimum of 15 hours of tuition and guidance from Sue.

You are very welcome to bring a non-painting friend or partner who will share your room and spend their time as they choose while we paint, draw and enjoy our excursions. Cost for this person is £395. This price includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner, refreshments and transfers.

Please note the villa is located in a quite rural area set in the picturesque mountains of Axequeria, so your non painting partner may wish to hire a car on arrival at Malaga Airport so they can explore the local area whilst you paint.
