The Woodland Studio

The Woodland Studio is a converted annex at the back of Sue’s property in Framfield, it is a spacious, light and airy place with tons of natural light. It faces east so gets lots of lovely early morning sunshine, most days you will be able to see the deer wondering through the woods and they often even come onto the lawn.

There are two rooms, one is a jewellery making studio with three bench spaces with all the equipment needed to make your silversmithing project take shape. We can also set up a large table that seats 8-10 for wax carving and wire working.

The other room is larger and has five full sized easels and workstations, the easels are free standing so you can position yourself in any light orientation that suits you to work on your painting. The Woodland Studio is on a ground floor, is accessible by wheelchair and there are toilet facilities for students to use on the ground floor. There is a fridge so students can pop their packed lunches in there when on a course.

Outside there are seating areas overlooking a pond at the front where students can possibly catch sight of our resident kingfisher, or in the woods there are some seating areas to inspire you to paint the trees and wood stumps. In the summer we can take out lunch and tea breaks outside on the patio overlooking the woods. This summer we will also be running life drawing classes in the wood – watch this space!
